IVFD Co-IVF for Same-Sex Female Couples
The utilization of assisted reproductive technology (ART), particularly by same-sex female couples (SSFCs), has increased over the past few decades. Alongside the increase in use by lesbian women, there has also been an increase in the number of available treatment options. The process by which SSFCs make the various decisions associated with conceiving and parenting, however, has been largely overlooked

IVFD Should the HFEA be regulating the add-on treatments for IVF/ICSI in the UK? AGAINST: HFEA regulation of add-on IVF/ICSI
HFEA activities, defined by the HFE Act (1990/2008), are to regulate treatment using gametes and embryos. The implication of the BMJ paper and the BBC programme recommendations are that the HFEA should assume a role in the financial probity of the fertility sector. If the HFEA extends its role to cover this function, it is likely to be successfully challenged in court.

IVFD Should the HFEA be regulating the add-on treatments for IVF/ICSI in the UK?
For fertility add-ons, the HFEA has developed a traffic light system that will populate their new website. This indicates what add-ons are of proven benefit (green), which have some scientific evidence but larger studies are required (amber), and finally those add-ons that are still under research or have not been shown to be of material benefit (red). I believe that the HFEA through this pragmatic dual approach, is best positioned to regulate t

IVFD Automatic Identification of Human Blastocyst Components via Texture
By automatically identifying TE and ICM regions, we offer the opportunity to perform more detailed assessment of blastocysts. This could help in analyzing, in a quantitative way, various visual/geometrical characteristics of these regions that when combined with the pregnancy outcome, can determine the predictive values of such attributes. Our work aids future research in understanding why certain embryos have higher pregnancy success rates. Th

IVFD Single-centre retrospective analysis of growth hormone supplementation in IVF patients classified as poor-prognosis
Conclusion: These data provided further evidence to indicate that GH may support more live births, particularly in younger women. It also appears that embryos generated under GH have a better implantation potential, but whether the biological mechanism is embryo-mediated or endometrium-mediated is unclear.

IVFD Vanishing twin syndrome among ART singletons and pregnancy outcomes
The reduction in birth weight and increased risk of SGA in ART singletons with VTS may suggest the presence of harmful intrauterine factors with long-term health impact. While vanishing twins are not routinely observed in naturally conceived pregnancies, loss of a twin is potentially a risk factor for the surviving foetus in any pregnancy. This could be further explored in large samples of naturally conceived pregnancies with the necessary infor

IVFD Preconception urinary phthalate concentrations and sperm DNA methylation profiles among men undergoing IVF treatment: a cross-sectional study
To our knowledge, this is the first study to report that preconception urinary phthalate metabolite concentrations are associated with sperm DNA methylation in humans. These results suggest that paternal adult environmental conditions may influence epigenetic reprogramming during spermatogenesis, and in turn, influence early-life development.

IVFD Ovarian reserve tests fail to predict fertility, study suggests Hormones linked to onset of menopause not associated with chances of conception
Tests that estimate ovarian reserve, or the number of a woman's remaining eggs, before menopause, do not appear to predict short-term chances of conception, according to a new study of women with no history of infertility.
