IVFD Ibuprofen is deleterious for the development of first trimester human fetal ovary ex vivo
Human ovarian explants exposed to 10 and 100 μ:M ibuprofen showed reduced cell number, less proliferating cells, increased apoptosis and a dramatic loss of germ cell number, regardless of the gestational age of the fetus. Significant effects were observed after 7 days of exposure to 10 μ:M ibuprofen. At this concentration, apoptosis was observed as early as 2 days of treatment, along with a decrease in M2A-positive germ cell number. These

IVFD Navigation problems of ICSI or naive blastocyst can be solved with artificial blastocyst
The design and delivery of artificial blastocyst (AB) carrying strong chemical signals may allow ICSI embryos to more easily locate to and be retained in the implantation zone. ICSI embryos will attach easily to the implantation zone after it is found by the AB. Co-transfer of the AB together with the ICSI embryo may overcome potential difficulties in implantation due to impaired embryo-maternal communication in cases with implantation failure.

IVFD Whither human IVF? Fertilisable oocytes selected on the basis of follicular temperature
Human pre-ovulatory follicles have previously been reported to be cooler than other ovarian tissues, so the divergence between ovulatory and non-ovulatory follicle temperature suggests a valuable addition to selection procedures currently used in human in vitro fertilisation (IVF) clinics. In future, oocytes to be subjected to IVF might best be those taken from cooler follicles. Follicular antral temperature could become a more sensitive indicato

IVFD Temperature gradients in vivo influence maturing male and female gametes in mammals: evidence from the cow [Bovine]
Temperature gradients are interpreted primarily in a context of final maturation of gametes immediately before the onset of fertilisation. Preovulatory follicular temperature in women could be assessed by a comparable approach and might become a valuable selection guide for oocyte viability.

Title
Is Follicle temperature linked to oocyte quality?
Summary
Recent followup work in cattle have confirmed graffian preovulatory follicles are cooler than surrounding tissue suggesting follicle temperature may be an alternative tool to oocyte selection.
Comment
The initial link between follicle temperature and follicle maturity was made in cattle during the early days of IVF but never really gained the IVF communities attention mainly for logistical and species reasons. This paper has revisited this issue (again in cattle) and confirmed that large, preovulatory follicles are 1.5C cooler than surrounding tissue. While direct relationship between oocyte quality and follicle temperature remains to be determined, IVFDaily considered that the concept of temperature monitoring of follicles prior to or during oocyte collection may provide an alternative and less invasive tool to identify those follicles more likely to provide a viable embryo for transfer.//Given that only about 8% of oocytes end up as a child, IVF spends considerable effort to try and sort the viable from the less viable embryos including time-lapse systems and PGS tools. While the sperm most likely contributes significant errors in embryo viability as does the culture systems, few clinics make any effort to sort oocytes on their quality part from polar body status at ICSI. All sorting is usually performed post insemination. Any easy tool that may dynamically identify healthy follicles at collection may in time provide a valuable tool. One reason why follicle blood flow never gained traction was the difficulty in identifying those follicles with well developed capillary systems. As the authors suggest, using a needle with a thermister attachment or an ultrasound tool may make follicle temperature a useful tool to sort the good eggs from the not-so-good ones. Maybe there is a market opportunity for an inventive needle maker!//

Is Ibuprofen is deleterious for the development of first trimester human fetal ovary ex vivo?
Summary
A recent study from France using fetal ovarian tissue from terminations have found that Ibuprofen can cross the placenta and diminish the number of early follicles.
Comment
This French study used fetal ovarian tissue from early terminations to explore whether Ibuprofen, a COX prostoglandin inhibitor, can interfere with the developing fetal ovary. They reported that when small explant ovarian tissues were cultured in vitro and exposed to Ibuprofen at concentrations they also found in cord serum ( after the women took it prior to the termination), then there appeared to be significant reduction in the number of primordial oocytes. This was associated with increased cell death and was not reversed when the exposure was limited to a shorter period.//Ibuprofen acts as an inhibitor of prostoglandin syntheses and this is important since "COX expression is restricted to germ cell during fetal development". The authors noted that it is not known whether this may reduce the fertility of women exposed to Ibuprofen during their first trimester but their work suggest that at least the potential for harm may exist. Clinic may well enquire further if Ibuprofen is recommended during the early stages of pregnancy. Particularly so since the children derived from IVF treatment will not test their fertility for up to 40 years later, well after all clinical staff have retired.//
