IVFD How a Low-Protein Diet Predisposes Offspring to Adulthood Hypertension
Studies have shown that the offspring of mothers on a low-protein diet are more likely to develop hypertension as adults. Now, University of Texas report that in rats, the high maternal testosterone levels associated with a low-protein diet are caused by reduced activity of an enzyme that inactivates testosterone, allowing more testosterone to reach the fetus and increase the offspring's susceptibility to adulthood hypertension.

IVFD Advances in embryo culture platforms: novel approaches to improve preimplantation embryo development through modifications of the microenvironment
Reduced volume systems that reduce embryo spacing, such as the well-of-the-well approach, appear beneficial, although more work is needed to verify the source of their true benefit in human embryos. Emerging microfluidic technology appears to be a promising approach. However, along with the work on specialized culture surfaces, more information is required to determine the impact on human embryo development.

IVFD Rethinking In Vitro Embryo Culture: New Developments in Culture Platforms and Potential to Improve Assisted Reproductive Technologies
Furthermore, methods that permit precise and regulated dynamic embryo culture with fluid flow and embryo movement are now available, and novel culture surfaces are being developed and tested. While several factors remain to be investigated to optimize the efficiency of embryo production, manipulation of the embryo culture microenvironment through novel devices and platforms may offer a pathway toward improving embryo development within the laborat

IVFD Serum FSH Levels in Coasting Programmes on the hCG Day and Their Clinical Outcomes in IVF ± ICSI Cycles
The optimal FSH cut-off level for LBR and CPR is 5.6 :IU/L on the hCG day. The optimal cutoff for coasting is 4 days. Conclusion(s). Coasting may be continued as long as either serum FSH level is > 2.5 :IU/L on the hCG day without compromising the LBR and CPR or to maximum of 4 days.

IVFD Trichorionic Quadruplet Delivered Beyond 36 Weeks of Gestation: A Case Report and Literature Review
A couple conceived with a quadruplet after transfer of three embryos through ICSI. At 36 weeks and 2 days of gestation, the mother developed gestational induced hypertension and delivered the next day by caesarean section. Pathology confirmed the zygosity to be trichorionic quadramniotic and all four babies were discharged home with their mother on postoperative day 3

IVFD Antichlamydial Antibodies, Human Fertility, and Pregnancy Wastage
There is a close correlation between antichlamydial antibodies in females and tubal factor infertility: the closest associations have been found for antibodies against chlamydial heat shock proteins. The antibodies have also been shown to be useful among infertile patients with prior ectopic pregnancy, and correlated with poor IVF outcomes & early pregnancy loss.

IVFD Infant Feeding Practices and Nut Allergy over Time in Australian School Entrant Children
There was a positive association between parent reported nut allergy and breast feeding. A protective effect was found in children who were fed foods other than breast milk in the first six months. Conclusion. Children were at an increased risk of developing a parent-reported nut allergy if they were breast fed in the first six months of life.

IVFD Oocyte Family Trees: Old Branches or New Stems?
The notion of a “biological clock” in women arises from the fact that oocytes progressively decline in number to the point of exhaustion as females get older, along with a decades-old dogmatic view that oocytes cannot be renewed in mammals after birth [1]. This latter thinking was challenged in 2004 when Tilly and colleagues [2], then others [3], reported that the rate of oocyte loss through follicular atresia and ovulation was much higher than t

IVFD Histone modifications and lamin A regulate chromatin protein dynamics in early embryonic stem cell differentiation
Together, these data provide mechanistic insights into the epigenetic pathways that are responsible for chromatin plasticity in embryonic stem cells, and indicate that the genome's epigenetic state modulates chromatin plasticity and differentiation potential of embryonic stem cells.

GnRH antagonist protocol with GnRH agonist trigger followed by frozen-thawed blastocyst transfers with LZD can generate many blastocysts without OHSS and maximize cumulative pregnancy rates per retrieval. This strategy is more effective in young women aged less than 35 than in women aged 35 to 39.

IVFD Oocyte activation and phospholipase C zeta (PLCζ::): diagnostic and therapeutic implications for assisted reproductive technology
It is clear that PLCζ:: plays a fundamental role in the activation of mammalian oocytes, and that genetic, molecular, or biochemical perturbation of this key enzyme is strongly linked to human infertility where oocyte activation is deficient. Consequently, there is significant scope for our understanding of PLCζ:: to be translated to the ART clinic, both as a novel therapeutic agent with which to rescue oocyte activation deficiency (OAD)

IVFD Toward a Better Understanding of Functional Ovarian Reserve: AMH (AMHo) and FSH (FSHo) Hormone Ratios per Retrieved Oocyte
FSHo, but not AMHo, was, overall, statistically associated with pregnancy chances in IVF. This association was further limited to women above age 38 yr. FSHo was also significantly associated with pregnancy chances in women with normal FMR1 genotype, although only almost reaching significance with heterozygous-normal/low.

We used the data to test for meiotic drive and found evidence for gene conversion. High-throughput sequencing on 31 single cells was used to measure the frequency of large-scale genome instability, and deeper sequencing of eight single cells revealed de novo mutation rates with distinct characteristics.

A compelling new genetic study tracing the origins of immature egg cells, or 'oocytes', from the embryonic period throughout adulthood adds new information to a growing controversy. IVFD Mechanisms That Allow Embryonic Stem Cells to Become Any Cell in the Human Body Identified
The authors believe that chromatin plasticity is tantamount to functional plasticity since chromatin is made up of DNA that includes all genes and codes for all proteins in any living cell. Understanding the mechanisms that regulate chromatin function will enable intelligent manipulations of embryonic stem cells in the future.

IVFD Schematic representation of the current understanding of PLCζ: mechanism of action
Following sperm/oocyte fusion, PLCζ: is released into the cytoplasm of the oocyte, where it facilitates the hydrolysis of membrane-bound PIP2 to DAG and IP3, triggering Ca2+ release from intracellular Ca2+ stores, leading to Ca2+ induced Ca2+ release and oocyte activation. The schematic illustrates the previous theory of PLCζ: action upon membrane-bound PIP2, which is now being considered to be organelle-bound. N: Nucleus: PIP2: Phosphoti
