IVFD A greater number of euploid blastocysts in a given cohort predicts excellent outcomes in single embryo transfer cycles
Results: In patients with ≤:3 euploid blastocysts, clinical pregnancy rate was higher in double, compared to single embryo transfers. However, in patients with ≥:4 euploid blastocysts, clinical pregnancy rate was not reduced with single embryo transfer was performed, whereas the multiple gestation rate was greatly reduced.- Conclusions: Size of the euploid embryo cohort is a marker for success in single embryo transfer cycles. IVFD The timing of monozygotic twinning: a pro-life challenge to conventional scientific wisdom
A recent paper in Zygote criticizes the ‘theory of origins’ of the various classes of monozygotic twins originally proposed and developed by Corner. It does so on the basis of recent observations on human IVF embryos. Here, the validity of one of the evidential sources is upheld, but an alternative explanation is proposed that is more plausibly based on evidence than the explanation offered in Zygote.

IVFD Seminal superoxide dismutase activity and its relationship with semen quality and SOD gene polymorphism
We found that seminal SOD activity was positively associated with sperm concentration and overall motility, whereas inversely with sperm DNA fragmentation. In addition, infertile men with SOD2 rs4880 CC variants showed a low level of SOD activity when compared with TT carriers (Mean ± SD: 268.3 :± :102.3 and 342.8 :± :98.2, respectively, P := :0.005). Those who consumed vitamin C/E (≥:3 times per week) had a sig

IVFD A small field for fertile science: the low visibility of reproductive science in high impact journals
Conclusions: There are likely several explanations for why reproductive science and medicine has low visibility, including the field’s small relative size, its lack of a specific disease and associated strong advocacy, and its surrounding social, ethical, and political unease. Nevertheless, there are concrete actions we can take to minimize the role of impact factor in our evaluation while simultaneously increasing influence through global awaren

IVFD The incidence of monozygotic twinning in assisted reproductive technology: Analysis based on results from the 2010 Japanese ART national registry
Conclusions: Blastocyst transfer was associated with an increased MZT incidence. We have to be aware of the potential risk of MZT caused by blastocyst transfer. However, further studies are required to assess the correlation among specific AH types, embryo culture conditions, and MZT incidence.

IVFD “Mild” vs. “long” protocol for controlled ovarian hyperstimulation in patients with expected poor ovarian responsiveness undergoing in vitro fertiliza
Conclusions: In conclusion, the “mild” CC/Gn/GnRH-ant stimulation protocol is a valid alternative to the long protocol with high Gn dose as it obtains a comparable success rate and requires significantly less medications, with an obvious economical advantage.

IVFD Now, IVF clinics under PMC scanner
Indian Fertility clinics in the state [of PUNE] will now have to be registered with local health authorities to make sure they are not misused for sex selection. Doctors running in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) or test tube baby facilities centres, however, have criticised the move. They have argued that for detecting sex, an IVF centre would need to have a pre-conception genetic diagnostics (PGD) facility which is rarely available in the country.

IVFD More women ditching male partners in the quest to have an IVF baby
WOMEN seeking IVF treatment to have a baby are increasingly doing so without a male partner by their side. A Queensland study on how the average IVF patient is changing has found the percentage of women undergoing IVF without a male partner increased from 2.3 per cent in 2008 to 21.7 per cent in 2013. This included both single women and women in same-sex relationships.

IVFD In mice, obese dads produce heavier daughters with epigenetically altered breast tissue
Obese male mice and normal weight female mice produce female pups that are overweight at birth and in childhood, and have increased number of 'terminal end buds' in their breast tissue - the site where breast cancer often develops in rodents. 'Researchers traditionally study the maternal link to weight and cancer risk. This unusual study demonstrates a potential paternal link as well,' says the study author.

Researchers have highlighted which key psychosocial factors could help identify patients at high risk of stress, after reviewing research that explored which psychosocial factors are associated with the emotional adjustment of IVF patients. The aim of the study was to find out what types of coping strategies, social circumstances and personality traits - called psychosocial factors - help people through IVF treatment, and which types are linked t

IVFD Preserving fertility in boys with cancer: New study shows promise
Scientists have moved a step closer to being able to preserve fertility in young boys who undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatments for cancer. The new research addresses the safety of an option scientists are developing for boys who aren’t sexually mature and cannot bank sperm. The goal is to freeze a sample of the boys’ testicular tissue so that when they reach adulthood, spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) found in the tissue can be reproduce
