Successful implantation and live birth of a healthy boy after triple biopsy and double vitrification of oocyte-embryo-blastocyst
This is the first case report of a live birth obtained from a three step biopsy and double vitrification procedures of a blastocyst. This case report seems also to suggest the harmlessness of all these procedures if carefully performed by a skilled biologist in an IVF lab with quality management system. Finally, our study highlight that blastocyst cryopreserved on day 7 have clinically important potential and embryos that not reach blastocyst sta
Comparison of antimüllerian hormone levels and antral follicle count as predictor of ovarian response to controlled ovarian stimulation in good-progno
Antimüllerian hormone was a stronger predictor of ovarian response to gonadotropin therapy than AFC at the study center level in both randomized trials utilizing GnRH agonist and GnRH antagonist protocols. Antral follicle count provided no added predictive value beyond AMH.
Progesterone-to-follicle index is better correlated with in vitro fertilization cycle outcome than blood progesterone level
A late increase in P level is detrimental if it is a consequence of increased P production per follicle (high PFI) but not if it is a consequence of additional follicular recruitment. The PFI enables clinicians to differentiate these conditions.
Frozen-thawed day 5 blastocyst transfer is associated with a lower risk of ectopic pregnancy than day 3 transfer and fresh transfer
Frozen-thawed day 5 blastocyst transfer is associated with a lower ectopic pregnancy rate than frozen-thawed day 3 transfer and fresh transfer in patients undergoing IVF-ET.
Mitochondrial Donation — How Many Women Could Benefit?
Inherited mutations in mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) are an important cause of genetic diseases for which there is no effective treatment. New techniques that are based on in vitro fertilization (IVF), including pronuclear and metaphase II spindle transfer have the potential to prevent the transmission of serious mtDNA diseases
miR-145 suppresses embryo-epithelial juxtacrine communication at implantation by modulating maternal IGF1R
miR-145 overexpression or specific reduction of IGF1R impaired attachment in both cases. miR-145/IGF1R target protectors prevented miR-145-mediated reduction in IGF1R and reversed the effect of miR-145 overexpression on attachment. The data demonstrate that miR-145 influences embryo attachment by reducing the level of IGF1R in endometrium.
Sexual Function and Fertility Quality of Life in Women Using In Vitro Fertilization
Women undergoing IVF may be at particular risk for sexual problems. Sexual function issues may markedly impact overall quality of life during fertility treatment and should be addressed as an important component of comprehensive care.
Use of IVF procedure for male infertility has doubled: not linked with improved outcomes
The use of an assisted reproduction technique known as intracytoplasmic sperm injection doubled between 1996 and 2012, although compared with conventional in vitro fertilization, use of intracytoplasmic sperm injection was not associated with improved reproductive outcomes, according to a study.
Possible cause of IVF failure in some women identified
A previously unexplored biological process, which can lead to the failure of embryos to attach to the uterine wall during in vitro fertilisation (IVF), has been identified by researchers. IVF only has around a 25% success rate, researchers report.
Nearly 2,500 women could benefit from mitochondrial donation in UK
Almost 2,500 women of child-bearing age in the UK are at risk of transmitting mitochondrial disease to their children, according to the most recent estimates. Experts say that these women could benefit from mitochondrial donation.
