Sperm telomere length in donor samples is not related to ICSI outcome
Conclusion: After addressing STL independently from female variables, results show that STL measurement is not useful to predict reproductive outcomes in ICSI cycles using donor semen.
High percentages of embryos with 21, 18 or 13 trisomy are related to advanced paternal age in donor egg cycles
Conclusion: Our data shows that advanced paternal age increases global chromosomal abnormalities, and percentages of trisomy 21, 18 or 13 in embryos, and such effect is significantly important as of the age of 50. Embryo genetic screening is highly recommended in patients in which paternal age is ≥::50 years old.
Sex hormone binding globulin - an important biomarker for predicting PCOS risk: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Our results suggest that the lower serum SHBG levels are associated with the risk of PCOS. SHBG may also play an important role in various metabolic disturbances in PCOS patients. Therapeutic interventions improved SHBG levels in PCOS women which further reduced PCOS associated complications. Therefore, SHBG levels may prove to be a useful biomarker for the diagnosis and treatment of PCOS.
Evaluation of the impact of sperm morphology on embryo aneuploidy rates in a donor oocyte program
However, total aneuploidy rate (p < 0.001) and its derivatives (trisomy p = 0,042, monosomy p = 0,004) differed significantly and they were reversibly correlated with sperm morphology (rho correlation test: total aneuploidy p < 0.001, trisomy p < 0.001, monosomy p = 0.004). Therefore, these results suggested that diminished sperm quality is correlated to the aneuploidy rate in preimplantation embryos.
Eleven of the 285 queried genes had disease-associated variants within a sperm RNA element. Three genes, GPX4, NDRG1, and RPS24 had SREs were absent in at least one individual from the test cohort. GPX4 and RPS24 are associated with developmental defects and/or neonatal lethality. This leaves the intriguing possibility that, while sperm RNAs delivered to the oocyte inform the success of live birth, they may also be predictors of human health.
