IVFD Extended culture of vitrified–warmed embryos in day-3 embryo transfer cycles: a randomized controlled pilot study
The spontaneous reduction rate was lower in the extended culture group (10.04% versus 20.80%: P=0.032) In conclusion, extended culture of day-3 cleavage embryos for 16h would not influence the pregnancy outcome of day-3 cryopreserved embryo transfer cycles.

IVFD Incidence of pulmonary and venous thromboembolism in pregnancies after in vitro fertilisation: cross sectional study
In vitro fertilisation is associated with an increased risk of pulmonary embolism and venous thromboembolism during the first trimester. The risk of pulmonary embolism is low in absolute terms but because the condition is a leading cause of maternal mortality and clinical suspicion is critical for diagnosis, an awareness of this risk is important.

IVFD Sperm head vacuoles are not affected by in-vitro conditions, as analysed by a system of sperm-microcapture channels
According to these observations, it is concluded that nuclear vacuoles on the sperm head are already produced at earlier stages of sperm maturation and are not induced or modulated by routine laboratory environments.

IVFD Anti-Müllerian hormone as an independent predictor of twin versus singleton pregnancy in fresh cycles
In summary, random serum AMH is an independent predictor of twin gestation when more than one embryo is transferred in women aged 34. Considering a woman’s AMH before transferring more than one embryo may assist in reducing the incidence of twins.

IVFD The Ethics of Resurrecting Extinct Species
At some point, scientists may be able to bring back extinct animals, and perhaps early humans, raising questions of ethics and environmental disruption. Within a few decades, scientists may be able to bring back the dodo bird from extinction, a possibility that raises a host of ethical questions, says Stanford law Professor Hank Greely.

IVFD Retinoic Acid Gradient Visualized for the First Time in an Embryo
In a ground-breaking study, researchers from the RIKEN Brain Science Institute in Japan report a new technique that allows them to visualize the distribution of retinoic acid in a live zebrafish embryo, in real-time. This technique enabled them to observe two concentration gradients going in opposing directions along the head-to-tail axis of the embryo, thus providing long-awaited evidence that retinoic acid is a morphogen.
