IVFD Long-term health of children conceived after assisted reproductive technology
It has been shown that children born after ART, when restricted to singletons, have a similar outcome for many health conditions as their spontaneously conceived peers. For some outcomes, particularly cardiovascular function and diabetes, studies show some higher risk for ART singletons or subgroup of ART singletons. The fast introduction of new ART techniques emphasizes the importance of continuous surveillance of children born after ART.

IVFD Time-lapse technology for embryo culture and selection
Time-lapse technology introduces the concept of stable culture conditions, in connection with the possibility of continuous viewing and documenting of the embryo throughout development. However, so far, even when embryo quality scoring is based on large datasets, or when using the time-lapse technology, the morphokinetic scores are still mainly based on subjective and intermittent annotations of morphology and timings.

IVFD Live birth rate following undisturbed embryo culture at low oxygen in a time-lapse incubator compared to a high-quality benchtop incubator
The use of TL incubators is appropriate in ART by virtue of their high specification, facility for low oxygen culture and provision of minimally disturbed culture conditions which limit exposure of human embryos to environmental stress.

IVFD Time to pregnancy: as important for patients as underestimated by doctors
Rather, we argue for a shift of mindset in the new decade: to use all available scientific evidence to support our patients in providing their best IVF treatment first, because sometimes the first treatment may be their only treatment, at least in our clinic. Furthermore, there is no economic rationale for either the patient or the doctor to undergo several failed cycles before offering the best possible care.

IVFD The effect of antioxidants on male factor infertility: the Males, Antioxidants, and Infertility (MOXI) randomized clinical trial
Conclusion(s). Antioxidants do not improve semen parameters or DNA integrity among men with male factor infertility. Although limited by sample size, this study suggests that antioxidant treatment of the male partner does not improve in vivo pregnancy or live-birth rates.

IVFD School performance in children born after ICSI
In recent years, there has been an increasing trend towards using ICSI not only for treatment of male infertility but also when the sperm quality is normal. Our results indicate that the school performance of children born after ICSI is reassuring.

IVFD Need for choosing the ideal pH value for IVF culture media
Conclusions: Because correct and stable extracellular pH is essential to embryo health and development, monitoring pH is imperative. However, there is a lack of clinical data on choosing the ideal pH for human IVF culture media.

IVFD Trophectoderm segmentation in human embryo images via inceptioned U-Net
Trophectoderm (TE) is one of the main components of a day-5 human embryo (blastocyst) that correlates with the embryo’s quality. Precise segmentation of TE is an important step toward achieving automatic human embryo quality assessment based on morphological image features. Automatic segmentation of TE, however, is a challenging task and previous work on this is quite limited.

IVFD Antioxidant supplements do not improve male fertility
Antioxidant supplements do not improve semen quality among men with infertility, according to a new study supported by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), part of the National Institutes of Health. The study also found that antioxidant supplements likely do not improve pregnancy and live birth rates. The study appears in Fertility and Sterility.

Title
Time-lapse technology for embryo culture and selection
Summary
This review article summaries the current state of information on the use of time-lapse technology
Comment
[Below is a copy of the open access articles comnclusion]| Conclusion| There is currently no conclusive evidence that ‘time-lapse technology’, mostly implying either just a closed culture system with continuous documentation and/or a combination of closed culture and morphokinetic algorithms, improves embryo quality, embryo selection, or success rates in IVF. In addition, the algorithms have not been shown to improve outcome. Nevertheless, time-lapse technology provides a very useable, although expensive, tool for the laboratory, with safe and stable culture conditions. In addition, it generates large amounts of data that will most probably aid in the selection of embryos. Further standardisation and more in-depth analyses of the large datasets available from the time-lapse documentation may be able to provide us with more targeted and stable algorithms in the future.
