Fetal fraction of cell-free DNA in pregnancies after fresh or frozen embryo transfer following assisted reproductive technologies
Concurrent with other studies demonstrating a reduced FF for singleton pregnancies after ART treatment compared with naturally conceived pregnancies, we found a reduction in FF between the two groups. This is one of the first studies to examine FF in ART pregnancies after fresh ET compared with frozen ET, hence the existing knowledge is limited. We find that FF is even more reduced in pregnancies following fresh ET compared with frozen ET, which
A decision-making algorithm for performing or cancelling embryo transfer in patients at high risk for ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome after triggeri
The present study describes a novel decision-making algorithm for embryo transfer based on ascites, Ht, WBC and MOD measurements on Day 3. The algorithm may be useful for the management of high-risk patients triggered with hCG and for helping the clinician’s decision to proceed with, or to cancel, embryo transfer.
Impact of a Controlled Culture Temperature Gradient on Mouse Embryo Development and Morphokinetics
Incubator culture temperature must be carefully controlled, as even slight variations of 0.5°C in the temperature used for extended embryo culture can have significant impacts on embryo development and mitotic cell divisions. These data have potential implications for application of universal morphokinetic selection algorithms and may help explain differences in mitotic errors/embryo mosaicism between laboratories.
The likelihood of having been born small for gestational age was almost fivefold higher in men with male factor infertility than in men with unexplained infertility. Men with male factor infertility were more often born with non-optimal birth characteristics than the control group and the reference group. Men with azoospermia were more often born with non-optimal birth characteristics, compared with men without azoospermia (21.3% versus 12.1%: P
Mitochondrial DNA Content Is Not Predictive of Reproductive Competence in Euploid Blastocysts
In trophectoderm samples, mitochondrial DNA copy number analysis was not found to be predictive of euploid human embryo reproductive competence. These data do not support the use of mitochondrial DNA copy number in clinical decision making when selecting which embryo to transfer.
A tissue-engineered uterus supports live births in rabbits
Bioengineered uterine tissue could provide a treatment option for women with uterine factor infertility. In large animal models, reconstruction of the uterus has been demonstrated only with xenogeneic tissue grafts. Here we use biodegradable polymer scaffolds seeded with autologous cells to restore uterine structure and function in rabbits.
In China, single women are banned from freezing their eggs. Now one woman is fighting for change
When Teresa Xu stood in a Beijing courtroom last December to demand equal access to reproductive rights, she knew she wasn't just representing herself. The outcome of her case could potentially transform the lives of women all over China.
Scientists were able to show that bioengineered uteri in an animal model developed the native tissue-like structures needed to support normal reproductive function.
Effects Of Follicular Fluid Oxidative Status on Human Mural Granulosa Cells, Oocyte Competency and ICSI Parameters
Oxidative stress detected in follicular fluid adversely affects fertilization rates post-ICSI however no effect on the remaining parameters including embryo quality, pregnancy, and implantation rates.
Sources of Exposure to Urinary Phthalates Among Couples Undergoing Infertility Treatment
Identifying differences in sources of phthalate exposure may help clinicians to intervene to reduce exposure as part of a comprehensive strategy to help improve IVF outcomes.
Is Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) for IVF pregnancies the same.
Summary
No, it appears that IVF and FET pregnancies have fetal fraction (FF) than natural conceptions
Comment
In a small study from Denmark, the authors looked at the proportion of fetal fraction (FF) of circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA) affected in pregnancies following ART treatment.| They found that ART conceptions had less cfDNA in the womens serum that for matched natural conceptions. Interestingly, they reported that IVF conceptions had less cfDNA than FET conceptions and that increasing age was related to lower FF fractions.|They concluded that "Concurrent with other studies demonstrating a reduced FF for singleton pregnancies after ART treatment compared with naturally conceived pregnancies, we found a reduction in FF between the two groups. This is one of the first studies to examine FF in ART pregnancies after fresh ET compared with frozen ET, hence the existing knowledge is limited. We find that FF is even more reduced in pregnancies following fresh ET compared with frozen ET, which might possibly reflect the predisposition of being small for gestational age after fresh ET compared with natural cycle frozen ET."|This study may prompt other groups performing prenatal testing to collate larger data sets to understand why IVF conceptions maybe at risk.|
