IVFD Oocyte-derived R-spondin2 promotes ovarian follicle development
Thus, oocyte-derived R-spondin2 is a paracrine factor essential for primary follicle development, and R-spondin agonists could provide a new treatment regimen for infertile women with low responses to the traditional gonadotropin therapy

IVFD Paternal Stress Exposure Alters Sperm MicroRNA Content and Reprograms Offspring HPA Stress Axis Regulation
Overall, these results demonstrate that paternal experience across the lifespan can induce germ cell epigenetic reprogramming and impact offspring HPA stress axis regulation, and may therefore offer novel insight into factors influencing neuropsychiatric disease risk.

IVFD Mate Choice and the Origin of Menopause
The origin and evolution of menopause is understood poorly and explanations remain contentious. Virtually ignored among explanations is the effect that mate choice can exert on an evolving population. We designed and used a computational model and computer simulation to show that male mating preference for younger females in humans could have led to the accumulation of mutations deleterious to female fertility and thereby produced menopause. Our

IVFD Maternal Obesity and Risk of Preterm Delivery
In Sweden, maternal overweight and obesity during pregnancy were associated with increased risks of preterm delivery, especially extremely preterm delivery. These associations should be assessed in other populations.

IVFD Menopause May Be an Unintended Outcome of Men's Preference for Younger Mates
Singh, an evolutionary geneticist, has determined that menopause is actually an unintended outcome of natural selection -the result of its effects having become relaxed in older women. Over time, human males have shown a preference for younger women in selecting mates, stacking the Darwinian deck against continued fertility in older women, the researchers have found.

IVFD Newly Discovered Hormone Makes Ovaries Grow
A newly discovered hormone produced by the eggs of human females may improve the effectiveness of current fertility treatments for women and possibly lead to entirely new treatments altogether. According to new research published in the June 2013 issue of The FASEB Journal, researchers from Stanford and Akira University in Japan identified a new hormone called "R-spondin2" that promotes follicle development and stimulates ovary growth.

IVFD High-Fat Diet During Pregnancy Contributes to Offspring's Increased Weight
Exposure to a high-fat diet in the womb and after birth can permanently change the cells in the brain that control food intake, predisposing monkeys to overeating and an increased preference for fatty and sugary foods, a new study finds.

IVFD IVF: First baby born using 'safer' method
In a world first, a healthy baby has been born using a "safer" method of the infertility treatment IVF. Baby Heath - who is now nearly eight weeks old - was conceived using a natural hormone to kick-start his mother's ovaries.

IVFD Hormone breakthrough offers hope of safer fertility treatment
The baby, a healthy boy weighing 7.15lbs, was born in April. His mother took part in a trial run by Hammersmith hospital and Imperial College in London designed to ensure that the hormone, kisspeptin, was capable of stimulating the ovaries and maturing the eggs just as well as the normal treatment.

IVFD First baby born using new lower risk IVF treatment
The treatment reduces the risk of women developing a potentially life threatening condition called ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), which can be triggered by the high levels of hormones used to induce egg development in patients. The researchers found, however, that if they gave women a different hormone that occurs naturally in the body, they could reduce the amount of time their hormones are artificially elevated for.

IVFD Obesity Increases Risk of Preterm Delivery
The risk of preterm delivery increases with maternal overweight and obesity, according to a new Swedish study published in Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). Women with the highest Body Mass Index (BMI) also had the highest statistical risk of giving preterm birth - and especially extremely preterm birth.

IVFD Overweight Women Risk Delivering Baby Early
The risk of preterm delivery increased significantly in women who were overweight or obese at conception, a large retrospective cohort study showed. Obese and severely obese women had a two to three times greater risk of extreme preterm delivery (at 22 to 27 weeks of gestation) as compared with normal-weight women.

IVFD Dad's Life Stress Exposure Leaves Mark On Sperm, Can Affect Offspring Brain Development
Sperm doesn't appear to forget anything. Stress felt by dad - whether as a preadolescent or adult - leaves a lasting impression on his sperm that gives sons and daughters a blunted reaction to stress, a response linked to several mental disorders. The findings, published in a new preclinical study in the Journal of Neuroscience by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania, point to a never-before-seen epigenetic link to stress-related disease
