How Are They Doing? Neurodevelopmental Outcomes at School Age of Children Born Following Assisted Reproductive Treatments
Neurodevelopmental measures were similar in both groups, although nonconclusive regarding ADHD and autism spectrum disorder risk. These findings contribute to the knowledge regarding long-term assisted reproductive treatment outcomes.
Non-invasive Embryo Assessment: Altered Individual Protein Profile in Spent Culture Media from Embryos Transferred at Day 5
Therefore, these proteins together with PECAM-1 indicate possible biomarkers for non-invasive embryo assessment in the future. However, due to the innovative methodology, defining a threshold for the use as biomarkers remains to be assessed.
A combination of growth factors and cytokines alter preimplantation mouse embryo development, fetal development and gene expression profiles
Therefore, in this study the effect of a combined group of growth factors and cytokines on mouse preimplantation embryo development and subsequent fetal development and gene expression profiles was investigated.
Cytoplasmic Transfer Improves Human Egg Fertilization and Embryo Quality: an Evaluation of Sibling Oocytes in Women with Low Oocyte Quality
Fertilization rates of oocytes were 67.2% in the cytoplasmic transfer and 53.5% in the ICSI groups (P < 0.001). A reduction in fertilization rate was observed with increased women age in the ICSI but not in the cytoplasmic transfer groups. The best embryo quality was found after cytoplasmic transfer in 78 cycles (62.4%) and without cytoplasmic transfer in 40 cycles (32%, P < 0.001). No significant differences were detected between the age, hormon
Peroxiredoxin 4, a new oxidative stress marker in follicular fluid, may predict in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer outcomes
Conclusions
Our results provide evidence that higher expression of antioxidants, such as Prdx4, in the FF of IVF patients tends to indicate a higher likelihood of pregnancy through an oocyte quality mechanism.
Prevalence, types and possible factors influencing mosaicism in IVF blastocysts: results from a single setting
Our results suggest remarkable differences in the mechanisms generating segmental and whole-chromosome mosaicism, indicating that they may deserve different consideration when studying them and when prioritizing them for transfer. Male factor seems to be associated with mosaicism and may be worthy of specific assessment in future studies
Male age interferes with embryo growth in IVF treatment
We observed a significant inverse association between APA and a key determinant for scoring of embryo quality: older men were less likely to produce an embryo of eight blastomeres at Day 3, compared to younger fathers: odds ratio for the effect of 1 year equals 0.960 (95% CI: 0.930-0.991: P = 0.011).
Characterization of the Age-Dependent Changes in Antioxidant Defenses and Protein's Sulfhydryl/Carbonyl Stress in Human Follicular Fluid
. Based on its distinctive composition and on the close proximity to the oocyte, FF creates a unique microenvironment having a direct impact on oocyte quality, implantation, and early embryo development. An imbalance in reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in ovarian follicular fluid may have a negative effect on these processes and, as a consequence, on female fertility.
Special Preview of Fertility and Sterility On Air: The Pros, Cons and Ethics of Uterine Transplant
In this episode, we will discuss the topic of a recent Fertility and Sterility Journal Club Global, the pros, cons and ethics of uterine transplant.|Points of discussion include strategies for screening donors, optimization of surgical technique, ART strategies for a uterine transplant, and more.|
What Does Quality Control Mean to Your Laboratory?
A fascinating paper was published last year by Palmer and colleagues (Reprod Biomed Online. 2019: 39:63-74) describing the parameters of environmental monitoring and instrument performance recorded in 36 IVF laboratories from 12 countries. All laboratories used the same cloud-based quality control (QC) application. Although large variations in the amount and diversity of captured data were reported between laboratories, one thing was consistently
