IVFD Ultra-rapid warming yields high survival of mouse oocytes cooled to -196°c in dilutions of a standard vitrification solution.
We show that a high percentage of mouse oocytes survive vitrification in media that contain only half the usual concentration of solutes, provided they are warmed extremely rapidly: that is, >100,000°C/min. Again, the cooling rate is of less consequence.

IVFD Survival of mouse oocytes after being cooled in a vitrification solution to -196°C at 95° to 70,000°C/min and warmed at 610° to 118,000°C/min: A new p
In samples warmed at the lowest rate (610°C/min), survivals were low regardless of the prior cooling rate, but decreased from 25% to 0% as the cooling rate was increased from 95 to 69,000°C/min. Intermediate cooling and warming rates gave intermediate survivals. The especially high sensitivity of survival to warming rate suggests that either the crystallization of intracellular glass during warming or the growth by recrystallization of small int

IVFD Association between blastocyst morphology and outcome of single-blastocyst transfer
Blastocyst EH stage was the only significant predictor of live birth (P < 0.001) in the multiple logistic regression. In conclusion, although all three blastocyst morphology parameters were related to treatment outcome of fresh single-blastocyst cycles, selection of high-quality blastocysts for transfer should consider first the EH stage. Transfer of a blastocyst with ICM grade A may reduce the risk of early pregnancy loss.

IVFD The impact of sperm DNA damage in assisted conception and beyond: recent advances in diagnosis and treatment
Finally, as sperm DNA damage is often the result of oxidative stress in the male reproductive tract, the potential contribution of antioxidant therapy in the clinical management of this condition is discussed. DNA damage in human spermatozoa is an important attribute of semen quality. It should be part of the clinical work up and properly controlled trials addressing the effectiveness of antioxidant therapy should be undertaken as a matter of ur

IVFD High live birth rate in the subsequent IVF cycle after first-cycle poor response among women with mean age 35 and normal FSH
Of the 2487 women starting IVF, 142 women (5.7%) with a poor response in the first cycle were selected, of which 66 (46.5%) women had a repeated poor response in the second cycle. There were 31 live births in the second cycle (21.8%). Female age was the only significant predictor for repeated poor response (AUC 0.69, 95% CI 0.61–0.78) and clinical pregnancy (AUC 0.66, 95% CI 0.57–0.75), but the predictive value was low. Therefore poor response in

IVFD FISH reanalysis of inner cell mass and trophectoderm samples of previously array-CGH screened blastocysts shows high accuracy of diagnosis and no majo
STUDY QUESTION Does comprehensive chromosome screening (CCS) of cells sampled from the blastocyst trophectoderm (TE) accurately predict the chromosome complement of the inner cell mass (ICM)? SUMMARY ANSWER Comprehensive chromosome screening of a TE sample is unlikely to be confounded by mosaicism and has the potential for high diagnostic accuracy.

IVFD Paternal obesity initiates metabolic disturbances in two generations of mice with incomplete penetrance to the F2 generation and alters the transcript
Diet-induced paternal obesity modulates sperm microRNA content and germ cell methylation status, which are potential signals that program offspring health and initiate the transmission of obesity and impaired metabolic health to future generations. This study implicates paternal obesity in the transgenerational amplification of obesity and type 2 diabetes in humans

IVFD Female Obesity Linked to Lower Rates of Live Birth and Embryo Implantation in the Uterus
An analysis of almost 10,000 first cycles of egg donation treatment at one of Europe's largest IVF centres shows that female obesity reduces the receptivity of the uterus to embryo implantation and thereby compromises reproductive outcome. The investigators report that excess female weight "impairs human reproduction" and that "the reduction of uterine receptivity is one of the mechanisms involved." As a result they advise weight reduction before

IVFD Strong Pregnancy Outcomes for Survivors of Childhood Cancer
Although women who survived childhood cancer face an increased risk of infertility, nearly two-thirds of those who tried unsuccessfully to become pregnant for at least a year eventually conceived, according to clinical researchers at Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center and Brigham and Women's Hospital. This is comparable to the rate of eventual pregnancy among all clinically infertile women.

IVFD Weight Gain Early in Pregnancy Means Bigger, Fatter Babies
Moms-to-be who gain too much weight early into their pregnancy are nearly three times as likely to give birth to bigger and fatter babies, warns a University of Alberta researcher.

IVFD Obese Dads Pass On Predisposition to Obesity and Metabolic Disorders to Their Kids
If you are obese and hope to be a father, here's another reason to lose weight: your children and grandchildren may inherit your waistline or metabolic disorders. That's because scientists have discovered in mice that obese fathers, even those who did not show any signs of diabetes, passed this negative trait on most frequently to their daughters. Sons don't entirely dodge this genetic bullet either - both sons and daughters of obese fathers hav
