Comment:The key article demonstrates that obesity does not impact on implantation suggestion weight effects are on the oocyte. The review came from an analysis of data from ovum donation.

Sperm vacuoles negatively affect outcomes in intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection in terms of pregnancy, implantation, and live-b
No statistically significant differences were observed between group A and B with regard to “early” assisted reproduction outcomes (fertilization rate and embryo quality). However, the “late” outcomes (pregnancy, implantation, and live-birth rates) were statistically significantly higher in group A.-
These results confirm a correlation between sperm vacuoles and a negative IMSI outcome, suggesting that sperm vacuoles are related to the late pate
Effects of combined antioxidant supplementation on human sperm motility and morphology during sperm manipulation in vitro
Combined treatment with taurine, cysteine, and glutathione statistically significantly ameliorated the reduction in sperm motility during in vitro manipulation of human sperm.
Number of embryos for transfer in women undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART) Updated
We found high quality evidence that the chances of live birth were higher after one cycle of fresh double embryo transfer than after one cycle of fresh single embryo transfer. For a woman with a 40% chance of live birth following a single cycle of double embryo transfer, the chance following a single cycle of single embryo transfer was between 22% and 30%. However, the risk of twins was about seven times higher after double embryo transfer.
Embryo developmental capability and pregnancy outcome are related to the mitochondrial DNA copy number and ooplasmic volume
We have shown that blastomere volume is directly proportional to the number of mtDNA copies. Therefore, larger cytoplasmic volume, with earlier cleavage speed, implies more mtDNA copies. Evaluation of mtDNA quantification and the measurement of ooplasmic and blastomere volume may be useful for selection of high quality embryo and pregnancy outcome.
DHEA supplementation positively affects spontaneous pregnancies in women with diminished ovarian function.
Pregnancy rate and ongoing pregnancy rate obtained before starting the IVF cycle were also significantly higher in older women treated with DHEA than in the control group: 21.05% and 13.15% and 4.1% and 0, respectively. DHEA supplementation improves the ovarian function in poor responders and in women over 40 years, suggesting that this molecule alone can raise fecundity and fertility treatment success in women with poor prognosis.
IVF outcomes in obese donor oocyte recipients: a systematic review and meta-analysis
These data suggest obesity does not affect IVF outcomes in women using donor oocytes. Oocyte quality rather than endometrial receptivity may be the overriding factor influencing IVF outcomes in obese women using autologous oocytes.
Together with prior animal studies, the data support the negative influences of BPA on cell cycle progression, spindle architecture and chromosome organization during oocyte maturation. Furthermore, the increased rates of abnormal maturation in oocytes exposed to BPA may be relevant to our understanding of the decrease in fertility reported in the last decades.
Tumor necrosis factor-308 polymorphism increases the embryo implantation rate in women undergoing in vitro fertilization
The TNF-308A allele may represent a good candidate for a potential predictive, non-invasive biomarker in the SET strategy. However, its impact should be evaluated in prospective studies.
Large human sperm vacuoles observed in motile spermatozoa under high magnification: nuclear thumbprints linked to failure of chromatin condensation
The rate of non-condensed chromatin was higher for ‘vacuolated’ spermatozoa than for ‘top’ spermatozoa (36.2 ± 1.9 versus 7.6 ± 1.3%, respectively: P < 0.0001). ‘Top’ and ‘vacuolated’ spermatozoa did not differ significantly in terms of DNA fragmentation (0.7 ± 0.4 versus 1.3 ± 0.4% respectively: P = 0.25) or aneuploidy (1.1 ± 0.5 versus 2.2 ± 0.7% respectively: P = 0.21).
To Transfer or Not to Transfer: The Case of Comprehensive Chromosome Screening of the In Vitro Embryo
The screening of in vitro embryos resulting from in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment for chromosomal abnormalities (aneuploidies) has as a primary aim to help patients achieve a successful pregnancy. Most IVF centers will not transfer aneuploid embryos, as they have an enhanced risk of leading to implantation failure and miscarriage. However, some aneuploidies, such as trisomy-21, can lead to viable pregnancies and to children with a variable
It was an innocent question posed by my 4-year-old daughter, and it wasn’t until later that I realized I had inadvertently lied to her. I did, in fact, choose whether or not to have twins — it was one of several decisions my husband and I faced over the course of in vitro fertilization, or IVF.
Fertility Therapy Not Associated With Long-Term Cardiovascular Disease
Women who gave birth following fertility treatment had no long-term increased risk of death or major cardiovascular events compared to women who gave birth without fertility therapy, according to new research by the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) and Women's College Hospital.
In a revelation that may rub Israeli authorities the wrong way, a Palestinian prisoner serving a 25-year sentence in Israel’s Nafha jail recently became a proud father after smuggling his sperm out of the prison to his wife.
As many as 20 percent of infertile couples in the United States have unexplained reasons for their infertility. Now, new research led by Catherine Racowsky, PhD, director of the Assisted Reproductive Technologies Laboratory at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH), shows that exposure to BPA (Bisphenol-A) could be a contributing factor as to why some infertile couples are having difficulty conceiving.
Obesity Doesn’t Reduce Chance of Getting Pregnant With Donor Eggs, Study Finds
In women who use donor eggs to become pregnant through in vitro fertilization (IVF), those who are obese are just as likely to become pregnant as normal weight women, according to a new report.-In this analysis, obesity (defined as a BMI over 30) was not associated with a difference in pregnancy rates when compared with pregnancy rates in women with a normal BMI.
Obesity doesn't reduce chance of getting pregnant with donor eggs
In this analysis, obesity (defined as a BMI over 30) was not associated with a difference in pregnancy rates when compared with pregnancy rates in women with a normal BMI. The data from this study also indicates that obesity was not associated with differences in the rates of miscarriage or live birth among obese women who used donor eggs, when compared with women of normal weight. However, live births and miscarriages were not reported in all of
