IVFD Assessing receptivity in the endometrium: the need for a rapid, non-invasive test
However, an important tool that is missing in the armoury of reproductive specialists is a means to rapidly assess endometrial receptivity, either during initial assessment or immediately prior to embryo transfer. The development of a wealth of omics technologies now opens the way for identifying potential receptivity markers, although validation of these is still a major issue. This review assesses the current state of the field and the requirem

IVFD Epigenetic effects on the embryo as a result of periconceptional environment and assisted reproduction technology
The influence of the periconceptional milieu on the epigenetic profile of the developing embryo has become a popular research focus in the quest to understand the effects of environment, nutrition and assisted reproduction technology on human development and health.

IVFD Maternal control of genomic imprint maintenance
Gamete and embryo manipulations for the purpose of assisted reproduction are performed during these reprogramming events and may lead to their disruption. Recent studies point to the role of maternal-effect proteins in imprinted gene regulation. Studies are now required to increase understanding of how these factors regulate genomic imprinting as well as how assisted reproduction technology may alter their function.

IVFD Twelve years of MSOME and IMSI: a review
A promising method for observing spermatozoa, motile sperm organelle morphology examination (MSOME) enables the evaluation of the nuclear morphology of motile spermatozoa in real time at high magnification and has allowed the introduction of a modified microinjection procedure, intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection (IMSI). Since its development, several studies have intensively investigated the efficacy of MSOME and IMSI. The

IVFD Oocyte insemination techniques are related to alterations of embryo developmental timing in an oocyte donation model
The percentage of optimal embryos showed a trend towards higher values in IVF-derived embryos: however, the difference was not statistically significant. With these results and through the time-lapse monitoring system, it is concluded that it is the fertilization method which determines embryo developmental kinetics if insemination time is used as the starting point.

IVFD Neonatal and neurodevelopmental outcome of children aged 3–10 years born following assisted oocyte activation
For all tests and questionnaires, the mean outcomes lay within the expected ranges. These are first data on the developmental outcome of AOA children. The high response rate and the robustness of the tests support the data, which are reassuring although still considered preliminary. Therefore, AOA should still be performed only in selected couples.

IVFD Comprehensive analysis of sperm DNA fragmentation by five different assays: TUNEL assay, SCSA, SCD test and alkaline and neutral Comet assay
We found differences in SDF between fertile donors and infertile patients in TUNEL, SCSA, SCD and alkaline Comet assays, but none with the neutral Comet assay. The alkaline COMET assay was the best in predicting male infertility followed by TUNEL, SCD and SCSA, whereas the neutral COMET assay had no predictive power. For our patient population, threshold values for infertility were 20.05% for TUNEL assay, 18.90% for SCSA, 22.75% for the SCD test,

IVFD Is intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection (IMSI) beneficial in the first ART cycle? A multicentric randomized controlled trial
Moreover, the results of IMSI were similar to the ICSI ones whatever the degree of sperm DNA fragmentation, nuclear immaturity and sperm morphology. These results show that IMSI instead of ICSI has no advantage in the first ART attempts. However, this does not rule out IMSI completely and more randomized trials must be performed especially regarding patients carrying severe teratozoospermia, or high sperm DNA fragmentation levels or having previo

More importantly, in all categories of semen samples, Annexin-V MACS allows enrichment of spermatozoa with good chromatin quality as measured by the TUNEL and SCSA. Because effective treatment modalities to improve sperm DNA damage are limited, our results suggest a potential clinical value of MACS as a mean to enhance sperm quality that may improve assisted reproductive outcomes.

IVFD Recent surrogacy disputes in focus
Surrogacy law and policy differs considerably between countries. Some jurisdictions ban or restrict the practice of surrogacy, whilst others have no legal regulation and some permit it on a commercial basis. Around the world, some jurisdictions continue to test and develop surrogacy law and policy and two recent surrogacy disputes have emerged from Wisconsin, in the United States, and South Africa which highlight the challenging legal and practic

IVFD Irregular Periods in Young Women Can Be Cause for Concern
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder that is characterized by an excess of androgens or male hormones in the body. The imbalance of hormones interferes with the growth and release of eggs from the ovaries, which can prevent ovulation and menstruation.
