Comment:This weeks edition contains a link to a court case in Western Australia where a women forged the consent of her partner to have an FET. Something clinics should remember. Should there be a master copy of signatures. PLUS more data on male health impacts on the offspring of children. At the very least, clinics should consider recording the BMI of both females and of males! Should this be included in risk counselling.

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay measurements of antimüllerian hormone (AMH) in human blood are a composite of the uncleaved and bioactive cleaved fo
The leading ELISA for AMH provides a composite value of two biologically distinct forms of AMH. It is not known whether proAMH and AMHN,C have identical relationships to ovarian reserve, antral follicle counts, or other aspects of ovarian function. Hence, future research into the physiology and clinical utility of AMH should consider the two forms separately.
Increasing the probability of selecting chromosomally normal embryos by time-lapse morphokinetics analysis
A logistic regression analysis identified t5 −:: t2 (odds ratio [OR] = 2.853: 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.763–4.616), followed by cc3 (OR = 2.095: 95% CI, 1.356–3.238) as the most relevant variables related to normal chromosomal content. On the basis of these results, an algorithm for embryo selection is proposed to classify embryos from A to D. Each category exhibited significant differences in the percentage of normal embryos (A, 35.9%
Factors associated with monozygosity in assisted reproductive technology pregnancies and the risk of recurrence using linked cycles
In the univariate analysis, the risk of MZ was increased with ovulation disorders, donor oocytes, gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-a) suppression, assisted hatching (AZH), and day 5–6 transfer, and was decreased with higher follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) doses (≥::3,000 IU). In the multivariate analysis, the risk of MZ was increased with GnRH-a suppression, AZH, and decreased with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and h
Paternal high-fat diet consumption induces common changes in the transcriptomes of retroperitoneal adipose and pancreatic islet tissues in female rat
Thus, paternal HFD consumption triggers unique gene signatures, consistent with premature aging and chronic degenerative disorders, in both RpWAT and pancreatic islets of daughters
Effect of fibroids not distorting the endometrial cavity on the outcome of in vitro fertilization treatment: a retrospective cohort study
Conclusion(s). Our results suggest that although non-cavity-distorting fibroids do not affect IVF/ICSI outcomes, intramural fibroids greater than 2.85 cm in size significantly impair the delivery rate of patients undergoing IVF/ICSI.
Obese father’s metabolic state, adiposity, and reproductive capacity indicate son’s reproductive health [in mice].
This is the first study to show that improvements to both metabolic (lipids, glucose and insulin sensitivity) and reproductive function (sperm motility and morphology) in obese fathers via diet and exercise interventions can improve subsequent reproductive health in offspring. [Ed maybe all data collections need to include paternal weight and BMI]
Age does not adversely affect sperm retrieval in men undergoing microdissection testicular sperm extraction
Overall, SRRs in men undergoing micro-TESE are not negatively affected by age. Despite successful sperm retrieval in older men with micro-TESE, couples have the best chance of clinical pregnancy with a female partner <35 years old. Some older men with azoospermia may have secondary azoospermia with hypospermatogenesis, explaining the high sperm retrieval rate.
Role for the endometrial epithelial protein MFG-E8 and its receptor integrin α:vβ:3 in human implantation: results of an in vitro trophoblast
Conclusion(s):This study showed that blocking MFG-E8 and its receptor integrin α:vβ:3 in Ishikawa cells diminishes Jar spheroid attachment. Moreover, blocking integrin α:vβ:3 in the trophoblastic cells also diminished their attachment to the Ishikawa monolayer.
Comparison of the transfer of equal numbers of blastocysts versus cleavage-stage embryos after repeated failure of in vitro fertilization cycles
Conclusion: Blastocyst transfer in ICSI cycles does not yield a better outcome than that obtained with cleavage-stage embryos in women who had unsuccessful IVF attempts previously.
Could empirical low-dose-aspirin administration during IVF cycle affect both the oocytes and embryos quality via COX 1–2 activity inhibition?
Conclusions: It is mandatory to define which patients could benefit from LDA administration and the adequate timing to administer it since the empirical administration could negatively affect both oocyte and embryo quality during IVF cycles.
Fathers' Diet, Bodyweight, Health at Conception May Contribute to Obesity in Offspring
Research involving rats suggests that there is a biological link between paternal diet, bodyweight and health at the time of conception and the health of his offspring. In a new research report published online in The FASEB Journal, scientists show that if male rats ate a high fat diet, had diabetes and were obese, their offspring had altered gene expression in two important metabolic tissues - -pancreas and fat (even though they were not yet ob
A WA mother has faced court accused of forging her estranged husband's signature to convince a fertility clinic to allow her to use a stored embryo to get pregnant. Magistrate Stephen Wilson yesterday refused an application to suppress the name of Megan Jane Hooper, 41, who is charged with uttering a forged record with intent to defraud over the allegations. Her lawyer told the court the allegations related to forgery which enabled his client to
Union Government allowed imports of frozen human embryos to boost infertility treatment
Union Government allowed the import of frozen human embryos for artificial reproduction on 15 January 2014. The decision allowed foreign couples to bring in frozen human embryos and rent a surrogate womb in India for the baby to be born. The relaxed rules will also apply to other infertility related treatment such as in-vitro fertilization (IVF). On the one hand, the decision will give boost to the infertility treatment and on the other it will o
Twelve Biomedical Science students have started a University of the Sunshine Coast pilot education project to learn clinical assisted reproductive techniques to better prepare them for working in the field of IVF (in vitro fertilisation). The intensive summer scholarship course, which finishes at the end of January, is training the USC students in IVF and clinical embryology laboratory techniques.
Research and Markets: Global In-Vitro Fertilization Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2016
One of the major drivers in the global IVF fertilization market is the high prevalence of infertility rates in the human population across the globe. Various factors contributing to high infertility rates include unhealthy lifestyles, smoking, obesity, and environmental factors. It is estimated that one out of every 25 men show low sperm count every year
Annie Branum fathered by crim who allegedly switched sperm samples at Reproductive Medical Technologies IVF clinic
A 21-YEAR-OLD woman who was fathered by a convicted kidnapper who allegedly swapped his sperm with her would-have-been biological father:s sample at an IVF clinic has been left asking, "Who am I?" Annie Branum, an astrophysics student in the US, made the shocking discovery about her lineage after her family sent DNA samples to a website that tracks people’s ancestral origins. Much to the Branums’ horror, Annie’s results showed she was unrela
Higher Risk of Birth Problems After Assisted Conception
A University of Adelaide study has shown that the risk of serious complications such as stillbirth, preterm birth, low birth weight and neonatal death is around twice as high for babies conceived by assisted reproductive therapies compared with naturally conceived babies
Nine women in Sweden have received womb transplants from living relatives in a pioneering trial. Dr Mats Brannstrom, of the University of Gothenberg, who has been leading the experimental fertility project, hopes the technique could help other women who want to become pregnant. He says up to 15,000 women in the UK could stand to benefit.
